North Bend Central goes 3-2 in Northeast Nebraska Tournament
The North Bend Central Tigers are off to a decent start as the Tigers went 3-2 in the Northeast Nebraska Tournament, defeating Allen and Lutheran High Northeast 2-0 and Oakland-Craig 2-1, but losing 2-1 to Wisner-Pilger and Guardian Angels Central Catholic.
In the Oakland-Craig match, the Knights won the opening set 25-13. North Bend Central won the second set 25-11, and the third set 25-22.
Kristin Lux had a team-high 11 kills for the Tigers. Brooke Fredrickson added 8. Noelle White totaled 22 set assists while Kylee Hines and Lux had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
North Bend Central won set one against Allen 25-20, and took set two 25-23.
Lux led the way with 9 kills and notched 9 digs while Fredrickson recorded 8 kills and 16 digs. White had 12 set assists and 7 digs. Kenzie Lorence chipped in 8 digs.
The Tigers made quick work of Lutheran High Northeast, winning the first set 25-10, and the second set 25-12.
Lux totaled 7 kills and 10 digs while White dished out 11 assists. Lorence notched 7 digs.
North Bend Central dropped set one 25-20 to GACC before bouncing back to take set two 29-27. The Tigers lost the third and decisive set 25-16.

The Tigers dropped set one 25-19 to the Gators, took set two 26-24, and lost set three 25-22.
Kristin Lux recorded 14 kills and 23 digs. Lorence chipped in 9 kills and 16 digs. Fredrickson notched 17 digs while White totaled 31 set assists and 8 digs. Hines added 7 digs.
North Bend Central played fairly respectable volleyball this weekend. The Tigers lost to a couple of quality opponents in Wisner-Pilger and GACC, but took care of business against the other three.
I'm sure North Bend Central would like to be 5-0 or 4-1 right now, but the Tigers have to like the way they competed this weekend.
North Bend Central (3-2) battles Pender (2-2) and Emerson-Hubbard (2-0) in the Emerson-Hubbard Triangular on Tuesday.
The Pendragons beat Allen and Scribner-Snyder in the Northeast Nebraska Tournament this weekend, but lost to GACC and Fremont Bergan.
Pender has played respectable volleyball for the most part, and won't be easy for the Tigers to beat.
The Pirates swept Ponca and Homer 2-0 in the Homer Triangular on Thursday, and appear to be a pretty solid team as well.
Both teams will no doubt challenge North Bend Central, which means the Tigers have to bring their best.
North Bend Central should win given the fact they're C-1 and Pender and Emerson-Hubbard are D-1, but classes don't always matter, especially in volleyball.
The Tigers have to go out there and execute their game plan to perfection.
I look for North Bend Central to beat both teams, but I don't see things being easy for the Tigers.
North Bend Central hosts a tough Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family team on Thursday before getting ready for the North Bend Invite on Saturday.
The Tigers have a big week ahead of them, which is why it's important for them to play well.
North Bend Central has to play with 100% effort every time out. The Tigers will no doubt get everyone's best shot so they have to rise to the occasion, and step up and get the job done.
If North Bend Central can get through this week with 1 or 2 losses, I think they would take it. It would be quite the feat to go unbeaten, but it won't be easy.
