Guardian Angels Central Catholic tops Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Boone Central/Newman Grove

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays dominated last week, going 2-0 in their two matches.

GACC downed Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 3-0 on the road Tuesday, and Boone Central/Newman Grove 3-0 at home on Thursday.

GACC defeated Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 25-16 in set one, 25-19 in set two, and 25-17 in set three.

Maddie Knobbe had a match-high 10 kills while Breanne Kreikemeier notched 8 kills and 7 digs. Katie Steuter registered 15 digs while Morgan Bracht notched 12. Kali Stratman totaled 12 set assists while Sara Wordekemper chipped in 10.

The Bluejays won set one over the Cardinals 25-20, took set two 25-13, and claimed set three 25-19.

Knobbe led the way with 10 kills and 7 blocks while Kreikemeier notched 9 kills. Steuter and Bracht had 9 digs each with Stratman and Wordekemper totaling 11 set assists apiece.

GACC did a good job taking care of business last week. The Bluejays didn't mess around with either opponent. GACC went out there and got the job done.

The Bluejays (6-1) host Wayne (5-3) on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils went 2-1 at the Boone Central/Newman Grove Invite on Saturday, defeating the host Cardinals and Crofton 2-0, but losing 2-0 to Columbus Lakeview.

Wayne isn't a bad team, but I don't see GACC having a whole lot of trouble with them.

The Blue Devils could win a set, but I don't see this match going any more than four sets.

I look for the Bluejays to win comfortably, and leave no doubt as to who the better team is.

Wayne hasn't really beaten anyone of high caliber this year, and GACC may be the best team the Blue Devils will have faced so far.

The Bluejays have a long trip to O'Neill on Thursday so GACC needs to take care of business quickly on Tuesday to get rested up for Thursday.

I look for the Bluejays to have an identical week to last week. I don't see Wayne or O'Neill knocking off GACC.

Expect the Bluejays to keep the ball rolling with two wins this week.

Tuesday's match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. It can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
