North Bend Central knocks off Wisner-Pilger

The North Bend Central Tigers handed Wisner-Pilger their first loss of the season on Tuesday, winning 3-2 at home.

The Gators took the first two sets 25-20 and 25-21, but North Bend Central rebounded to win the next three sets 25-23, 25-17, and 15-12.

Brooke Fredrickson led the way with 21 kills and 27 digs. Kristin Lux posted 17 kills and 17 digs while Allison Lux added 13 kills and 7 digs. Kylee Hines totaled 14 digs while Alexandria Humlicek and Kenzie Lorence notched 13 and 8, respectively. Noelle White recorded 26 set assists while Kaitlynn Bjorklund had 24.

The Tigers showed great resolve and moxie in coming back against Wisner-Pilger.

The Gators had North Bend Central down and out, but the Tigers played with the heart of a champion and came back to win.

North Bend Central (9-3) is at Oakland-Craig (8-1) on Tuesday.

The Knights won 2-1 over Lindsay/Holy Family and Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Tuesday of last week.

Oakland-Craig has been on a roll this season, but their only loss has come to the Tigers.

North Bend Central knocked off the Knights 2-1 in the Northeast Nebraska Tournament on September 3rd.

That match is Oakland-Craig's only real test of the year so far. The Knights haven't played the most difficult schedule.

With that said it will be difficult for the Tigers to beat Oakland-Craig again, especially with the match being in Oakland.

You can bet there will be a big and loud crowd for the match.

Wisner-Pilger found out how tough it is to beat the same team twice in a season, and North Bend Central is in the same kind of situation.

That's not to say the Tigers can't get the job done, because they can, but it's not going to be easy to knock off the Knights again.

This should be a great match. I anticipate it going five sets, but you never know. It could go just 3 or 4 if one team is not as ready to play as they should be.

Both teams will have had an entire week to prepare for one another so it should make for an exciting, intriguing match.

North Bend Central has West Point-Beemer at home on Thursday and the David City Invite on Saturday so this is a big week of volleyball for the Tigers.
