Howells-Dodge sweeps Wakefield Triangular

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars went 2-0 last week, defeating Bancroft-Rosalie and Wakefield 2-0 at the Wakefield Triangular on Tuesday.

The Jaguars defeated the Panthers in set one 25-21, and took set two 25-12.

Kalli Brester had 7 kills and 10 digs for Howells-Dodge while Tessa Brester and Shelby Hegemann totaled 10 and 7 set assists, respectively.

Howells-Dodge took set one from the Trojans by the score of 25-23, and earned a 30-28 win in set two.

Kalli Brester finished with 13 kills and 11 digs. Sam Brester had 8 kills while Mallory Rolf posted 15 digs. Hegemann dished out 16 set assists while Tessa Brester totaled 13.

The Jaguars played good volleyball last week. Howells-Dodge did what they needed to do in both matches, and didn't have to play any extra sets.

The Jaguars (8-2) are at Lutheran High Northeast (9-7) on Tuesday.

The Eagles went 2-3 last week, losing 3-1 to Hartington Cedar Catholic on Thursday before falling 2-0 to Grand Island Central Catholic and Ord at the Ord Invite on Saturday. LHNE beat O'Neill 2-1 and Ansley-Litchfield 2-0, also on Saturday at the Ord Invite.

Lutheran High Northeast has lost a lot of tough matches. Their record is a little bit deceiving.

This is a step up in competition for Howells-Dodge, and the Jaguars are no doubt going to have their hands full.

This is Howells-Dodge's only match of the week though so the Jaguars can really focus in on the Eagles.

The Jaguars will have had an entire week to prepare for Lutheran High Northeast so that should be to their benefit.

LHNE could be at a disadvantage having played a bunch of matches over the weekend. That could also be to their benefit though as Howells-Dodge could come out flat having not played for a week.

This won't be an easy match for the Jaguars. Howells-Dodge is definitely going to have to bring their "A" game if they want to win.

The Jaguars have to be ready to play from the get go.

This is probably Howells-Dodge's toughest test of the year so far. We will find out what the Jaguars are made of, and see if they can pull out a win.
