The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays are off to a 4-1 start as they defeated Pender 2-1 and Fremont Bergan 2-0 in the Northeast Nebraska Tournament on Thursday, beat Lutheran High Northeast 2-0 and North Bend Central 2-1 on Saturday, but lost 2-1 to Wisner-Pilger, also in the Northeast Nebraska Tournament on Saturday.

In the Bergan match, GACC took set one 25-14 and set two 25-15.

The Pendragons took set one from the Bluejays, 25-21. GACC bounced back to win set two 25-12, and set three 25-15.

Steuter totaled 12 kills and 9 digs while Kreikemeier posted 7 kills. Wordekemper dished out 20 assists.

The Bluejays lost set one to the Gators, 25-20. GACC rebounded to win set two 25-17, but dropped set three 25-19.

Maddie Knobbe had a team-high 9 kills while Bracht had 7 kills and 7 digs, and Kate Knobbe added 7 kills and 15 digs. Kreikemeier totaled 9 digs while Kali Stratman notched 25 assists and 12 digs.

GACC took set one from North Bend Central 25-20 before losing set two 29-27. The Bluejays won the third and decisive set 25-16.

Steuter had 15 kills and 11 digs while Maddie Knobbe notched 10 kills. Kreikemeier recorded 7 kills and 8 digs while Sarah Arduser and Bracht totaled 13 and 8 digs, respectively. Stratman posted 18 assists while Wordekemper had 12.

GACC won set one over LHNE 25-15, and won set two 25-16.

Maddie Knobbe led the way with 8 kills while Bracht posted 12 digs. Stratman dished out 12 assists with Wordekemper chipping in 9.

The Bluejays played at a pretty high level for the most part this weekend. I'm sure GACC wishes they could have beaten Wisner-Pilger, but the Bluejays could very well see the Gators again before season's end.

GACC (4-1) is at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (0-0) on Tuesday.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family is a quality team, and the Bluejays are going to have to be ready to go from the get go.

GACC having played matches already could help or hurt them.

The Bluejays could be a little gassed from the weekend, but at the same time are probably in better game form than Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family given the fact it's Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family's first match of the season.

I look for the match to go four or five sets, but I fully expect GACC to prevail.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family will most likely challenge the Bluejays, but I think GACC will be too strong for them.

It's not easy to win on the road, and the crowd will no doubt be into it for Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, but I'm sure the Bluejays have played in front of hostile road crowds before.

It's nothing new for GACC, and that's why I look for the Bluejays to rise to the challenge and get the job done.

GACC has a tough home match with Boone Central/Newman Grove on Thursday so it's important for the Bluejays to be on top of their game this week.

GACC definitely has their work cut out for them against both teams. There is no doubt about that.
