Scribner-Snyder goes winless in Northeast Nebraska Tournament
It has been a struggle so far for the Scribner-Snyder Trojans as they went 0-5 in the Northeast Nebraska Tournament last week, falling 2-0 to Wakefield and Wisner-Pilger on Thursday, Allen 2-0 on Saturday, and Bancroft-Rosalie and Pender 2-1, also on Saturday.
The Gators took set one against Scribner-Snyder 25-4, and won set two 25-9.
Scribner-Snyder fell to Wakefield 25-22 in sets one and two.
Savanah Miller had 9 kills to pace Scribner-Snyder. Mackenzy Schreck had 8 digs while Nicole Boyle totaled 8 assists.
Pender downed Scribner-Snyder 25-22 in set one. The Trojans won set two 25-23, but lost set three 25-19.
Miller led the Trojans with 11 kills and had 12 digs. Kaylee Boyle totaled 15 digs.
Scribner-Snyder lost set one to the Eagles, 25-8, and dropped set two 25-20.
Bancroft-Rosalie took the first set from the Trojans 25-20. Scribner-Snyder took the second set 25-21, but the Panthers bounced back to win the third set 25-14.
Kaylee Boyle notched 17 digs while Nicole Boyle and Daria Risch recorded 9 apiece. Miller chipped in 7.
The Trojans had a tough go of things this weekend, but there's still plenty of volleyball to be played, and a lot of time to get things turned around.
Scribner-Snyder (0-5) battles Howells-Dodge (3-0) and Cedar Bluffs (2-0) at the Cedar Bluffs Triangular on Tuesday.
The Jaguars went 3-0 in their own tourney this weekend, defeating Randolph, Hartington-Newcastle, and Winside 2-0.
The Wildcats downed Winnebago 2-0 and Mead 2-1 at the Mead Triangular on Thursday.
Both teams will be very difficult for the Trojans, but Scribner-Snyder has to put their past struggles behind them and be ready to play.
It would be easy to get discouraged given how last week went, but it's a new week and a fresh start, and this team has to believe they can get the job done.
The Trojans have an uphill battle, there's no doubt about that, but there's definitely room for growth and improvement with this team.
If Scribner-Snyder can just win a set against either team, that could serve as a momentum booster heading into future matches.
The goal of course is to win, but there's a lot to be said about moral victories, and at the very least, I think the Trojans have a chance to earn a couple of those.
Scribner-Snyder hosts Oakland-Craig and Bancroft-Rosalie in a triangular on Thursday so the Trojans have to have a good showing on Tuesday to gain some momentum for those matches.
It's critical for Scribner-Snyder to bounce back this week. The Trojans don't want to be 0-9 heading into next week although it's a very real possibility if things don't go Scribner-Snyder's way.
