Howells-Dodge goes 3-0 in own tourney

The Howells-Dodge Jaguars are off to a good start as they went 3-0 in their own tourney this weekend.

Howells-Dodge defeated Randolph, Hartington-Newcastle, and Winside 2-0 on Saturday.

The Jaguars won set one over Hartington-Newcastle 25-21 before taking set two 25-22.

Kalli Brester notched 8 kills and 9 digs while Mallory Rolf recorded 7 digs.

Howells-Dodge took out Winside 25-20 in set one, and 25-18 in set two.

Kalli Brester led the way with 8 kills and 9 digs while Tessa Brester and Shelby Hegemann had 11 and 7 assists, respectively.

The Jaguars downed the Cardinals 25-13 in set one, and 25-18 in set two.

Kalli Brester had 13 kills and 7 digs while Rolf totaled 7 digs. Tessa Brester dished out 10 assists.

Howells-Dodge played very impressive volleyball this weekend. The Jaguars didn't mess around with any of the teams they played. Howells-Dodge took care of business the way they were supposed to.

The Jaguars (3-0) take on Scribner-Snyder (0-5) and Cedar Bluffs (2-0) at the Cedar Bluffs Triangular on Tuesday.

The Wildcats downed Winnebago 2-0 and Mead 2-1 at the Mead Triangular on Thursday.

Scribner-Snyder lost 2-0 to Wakefield and Wisner-Pilger on Thursday before falling 2-1 to Bancroft-Rosalie and Pender on Saturday, and 2-0 to Allen, also on Saturday.

The Jaguars shouldn't have too much trouble with Scribner-Snyder, but Cedar Bluffs could challenge Howells-Dodge.

The Jaguars have to be ready to play in each match, and can't afford to take one team more lightly than the other.

Howells-Dodge has to treat both matches with equal importance, and step up their game against both teams.

Kalli Brester has to continue to be the offensive threat she was in the first three matches, and the defense has to continue to get the job done with their digging.

This is the Jaguars' first road trip of the season so it will be interesting to see how Howells-Dodge plays away from home.

The Jaguars have the Howells-Dodge Invite on Saturday.

This is a big week for Howells-Dodge. The Jaguars have to build on the success they had the first week of the season, and play even better this week.

Howells-Dodge has to keep improving if they are to get where they want to this season.
