Winnebago starts season 0-4
The Winnebago Volleyball team is off to an 0-4 start, losing 2-0 to Mead and Cedar Bluffs at the Winnebago Triangular on Thursday before falling 2-0 to Fort Calhoun and Logan View at the Fort Calhoun Invitational on Saturday.
The Indians dropped set one 25-5 and set two 25-13 to the Wildcats.
The Raiders downed Winnebago 25-13 in set one, and 25-21 in set two.
The Pioneers took set one 25-10 and set two 25-13.
Logan View defeated the Indians 25-17 in the first set, and 25-14 in the second set.
It has been a tough start to the season for Winnebago, in my opinion. The Indians have been competitive in some sets, but not so competitive in others.
Winnebago (0-4) travels to Walthill on Thursday to take on a Blujay team that has yet to play a match this year.
I don't know if playing already is an advantage for the Indians or not, but one way or another Winnebago needs to do something to get their confidence up.
It would be easy to be down and demoralized given the Indians' start to the season, but Winnebago simply has to pick themselves up and get back on track.
I look for the Indians to play a good match against Walthill. Winnebago competed well with the Blujays last year, defeating them once.
Even if the Indians don't win the match...if they could take a set or two that would be a building block and a stepping stone, in my opinion.
This is Winnebago's only match of the week so the Indians should be able to give their all and everything against Walthill.
The Indians have to prepare themselves mentally and physically this week, and must be ready to give a complete effort Thursday night.
I feel Winnebago hasn't put forth their best effort yet, but that is yet to come.
I think the Indians can make strides and take some steps forward against the Blujays.
Winnebago may win, they may not, but regardless of how the match turns out I look for there to be plenty of things for the Indians to take away from it.
Winnebago has a big week next week so there's a big need for the Indians to play well Thursday night.
The Indians have to play with a sense of urgency and purpose, and must be ready to give Walthill al they can handle and then some.
There can't be any quit in this Winnebago squad. The Indians have to continue, to fight, scrap, scratch, and claw at all times.
Matches are never over until they are over, and Winnebago has to keep playing hard no matter what until the final point of the final set.
