Logan View 1-4 in last five matches
The Logan View Volleyball is 1-4 in their last five matches as the Raiders were swept 3-0 by DC West at home last Thursday night, fell 2-1 to David City at the Fort Calhoun Invitational on Saturday before beating Winnebago 2-0, also on Saturday. Logan View lost 2-0 to Tekamah-Herman and Twin River at the Tekamah-Herman Triangular on Tuesday.
The Falcons won set one 25-13, and sets two and three 25-16.
Ashley Uhing had 10 kills to lead the Raiders (1-2) while Shaylin Daugherty chipped in 7.
Head Coach Brad Schlegel on the loss. "DC West is a good team. They're low in numbers, but they've got a great setter, and they've got about 4 or 5 hitters to put around her. Nothing's easy against this team. We threw our best at them and they pop it right back up. Their serve receive was excellent all night, and it was so hard to keep them off balance cause their passing was so good."
Schlegel adds despite the loss, he's pleased with his young team's effort. "I'm just really happy with how scrappy we've gotten also. Getting balls up that we wouldn't of got up before. Girls were getting on the floor, they're sacrificing for each other, and they're playing like a team."
The Raiders took set one from the Scouts, 25-22, before losing sets two and three 25-10 and 25-12.
Logan View downed the Indians 25-17 in the first set, and 25-14 in the second set.
The Titans took set one 25-17 and set two 25-19.
The Tigers claimed set one 25-11, and set two 25-16.
I think the Raiders have played pretty good volleyball so far this season. Maybe not as consistent as they'd like, but still better than last year and the year before I would say.
Logan View (2-5) travels to Pender (2-5) Tuesday night to take on the Pendragons.
The Pendragons swept Emerson-Hubbard 2-0, but lost 2-0 to North Bend Central at their home triangular this past Tuesday night.
Pender is an up and coming team much like the Raiders, and I look for this match to be very good.
Logan View is definitely capable of winning it, and should benefit from the extra practice time.
I guess there's not really an advantage to either team with extra practice time as both teams are off until the match, but the extra practice time should allow the Raiders to work out the mistakes they made in this past Tuesday's triangular.
Logan View has to get back to playing the type of Volleyball they were playing prior to the triangular losses.
The Raiders were very consistent winning matches or at least taking a set in a certain match before Tuesday's Triangular, and I look for Logan View to get back to that Tuesday night.
I think this match has all the makings of going five sets. I feel both teams are pretty evenly matched having identical records, and feel it's anyone's match.
I think the Raiders being the bigger school and the Pendragons being at home sort of offsets any advantage either team would have.
Normally the bigger school wins, but Logan View won't have an easy time with Pender by any means I wouldn't think.
This is a big match for the girls gaining confidence and building the program though, in my opinion. To be 3-5 through 8 matches would be substantial progress for the Raiders.
Logan View can't get too ahead of themselves or get too overconfident or cocky, but the Raiders have to be feeling confident and pretty good about their chances of winning Tuesday night's match.
Logan View just has to remain humble and hungry and willing to work hard and improve.
There's always something to get better at and improve on so the Raiders have to keep their attitudes positive.
If they do that then they can do anything they put their minds to.
