Pender starts year 2-5
The Pender Volleyball team has started the season 2-5, losing 2-0 to Tekamah-Herman and Wayne at the Northeast Nebraska Tournament last Thursday night, beating Oakland-Craig 2-1, but losing 2-0 to BRLD and Allen on Saturday at the Tournament, and then losing 2-0 to North Bend Central, but beating Emerson-Hubbard 2-0 at the Pendragons' home Triangular Tuesday night.
Tekamah-Herman took set one from the Pendragons, 25-15, and won set two 25-8.
The Blue Devils downed Pender 25-4 in set one, and 25-9 in set two.
The Wolverines topped the Pendragons 25-19, and set two 25-11.
The Eagles beat Pender 26-24 in the first set, and 25-22 in the second set.
The Knights earned a 26-24 set one win, but the Pendragons bounced back to win set two 25-16, and set three 25-22.
North Bend Central defeated Pender 25-14 in set one, and 25-12 in set two.
The Pendragons topped the Pirates 25-15 in the opening set, and 25-17 in the second set.
Pender has been a bit inconsistent so far in this young season I would say, but have shown signs of promise too.
The Pendragons (2-5) host Logan View (2-5) Tuesday night.
The Raiders lost 2-0 to Tekamah-Herman and Twin River at the Tekamah-Herman Triangular Tuesday night.
Logan View is kind of like Pender in that they have been somewhat inconsistent.
I think the Raiders have been more consistent to this point than the Pendragons have though so it will be interesting to see what happens.
I look for this match to be very competitive and for Pender to at least push it to five sets.
Keep in mind that the Pendragons are very young breaking in a number of new players, and so it's going to take some time to get things going.
Sure Pender probably could of and should of beat Allen, but all of the Pendragons' other losses are to pretty stout competition.
Pender could do a better job of being more competitive against some of the tougher teams on their schedule, in my opinion, but I'm sure that will come in time.
I feel next week is very important for the Pendragons heading into the Stanton Triangular with Stanton and Wisner-Pilger the following week.
Pender has Logan View on Tuesday and Wakefield next Thursday so these are must compete well in matches for the Pendragons.
Ideally, Pender would like to win both matches, and to be 4-5 after 9 matches would be really good for this Pendragon team.
Pender can definitely sport that record after next week two if they just put their minds to hard work and continual improvement.
I look for the Pendragons to be more competitive overall next week, and give both the Raiders and Trojans all they can handle.
I think you will see this Pender team improve and make strides, and take some positive steps in the right direction, win or lose.
