BRLD on a roll

The BRLD Volleyball team has rolled lately, sweeping Scribner-Snyder 3-0 at home last Tuesday night, downing Emerson-Hubbard and Winnebago 2-0 at the Emerson-Hubbard Triangular last Thursday night, and Madison 2-0 and Howells-Dodge 2-1 at the Wisner-Pilger Double Triangular Tuesday night.

BRLD won set one 25-12, set two 25-21, and set three 25-11 over the Trojans.

Halle Wortman posted a match-high 10 kills for the Wolverines (7-10) while Vicki Gatzemeyer added 8 kills and 7 digs. Kelcee Bacon had 9 digs while Brandi Simonsen totaled 7. Tiahna Bonneau registered 19 set assists while Lauren Ahlers notched 10.

Head Coach Rebecca James says she was pleased with her team's 10 aces. "Yeah that was nice to see our servers step up and get some aces cause we work on serving every single day. And as far as our kills we've been pretty spread out as far as our kills have been."

The Wolverines topped the Pirates 25-17 in the first set, and 25-15 in the second set.

Gatzemeyer totaled 8 kills while Bacon had 7 digs. Bonneau added 8 set assists.

BRLD downed the Indians 25-16 in set one, and 25-10 in set two.

Gatzemeyer led the way with 7 kills while Bacon recorded 7 digs. Bonneau dished out 12 set assists.

The Wolverines upended the Dragons 25-10 in the first set, and 25-18 in the second set.

Bonneau paced BRLD with 10 digs while Bacon and Simonsen contributed 8 apiece. Gatzemeyer chipped in 7 while Ahlers compiled 7 set assists.

The Wolverines earned a 25-19 win in set one over the Jaguars. BRLD lost set two 25-23 before taking set three 25-20.

BRLD has played great Volleyball as of late. There's nothing to complain about when it comes to the Wolverines' play as of late.

BRLD (11-10) takes part in the Clarkson/Leigh Tournament on Saturday.

I'm not sure who the Wolverines play first, but other teams in the tournament include Oakland-Craig, Howells-Dodge, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, Pender, David City Aquinas, and Cross County.

The Wolverines figure to see some very good teams in this tournament, but I think it has a chance to be a successful day of Volleyball for BRLD.

I think the Wolverines have a chance to finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in this tournament.

If BRLD can continue to play the way they have lately then they will be a very tough out.

The Wolverines have to keep playing with the same intensity, focus, determination, sacrifice, and drive that's allowed them to win 5 in a row.

BRLD has definitely cranked up the intensity and gotten better production all the way around these last couple of weeks.

The Wolverines have to keep playing with the same attitude that's allowed them to go on this winning streak.

I don't know if what I said about BRLD stepping up their game has had any impact on this team or not, but it seems like the Wolverines turned the corner the moment I said other girls that hadn't been producing needed to step up and produce.

BRLD is playing great Volleyball right now, and needs to simply keep it up.

The Wolverines shouldn't change anything from how they've played over the last couple of weeks or so. If anything, BRLD has to continue to play with a lot of drive, heart, determination, grit, mental and physical toughness, pride, and passion.

The Wolverines have to be happy with how they've played lately, but can't be satisfied.

BRLD has to want more, and must continue to push and improve.

The Wolverines have to keep playing with the heart of a champion, and must continue to grind and work their tails off in every match.

BRLD has to be at their best on Saturday, and on top of their game so they can play well in all matches.
