West Point-Beemer 1-2 in last three matches

The West Point-Beemer Volleyball team is 1-2 in their last two matches, beating Schuyler 2-0, but losing 2-0 to Twin River at the Schuyler Triangular Thursday night. The Cadets then lost 3-2 at home to Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night.

The Cadets downed the Warriors 26-14 in set one, and 25-14 in set two.

West Point-Beemer lost 25-22 in sets one and two to the Titans.

The Tigers took set one from the Cadets 25-13. West Point-Beemer won set two 25-23 before Tekamah-Herman claimed set three 25-15. The Cadets took set four 25-18, but the Tigers prevailed with a 15-8 win in set five.

Nicole Mitzel registered a team-high 16 kills while Makenna Weddle had 12 kills and 13 digs. Brittney Hinkel added 10 kills while Kendra Paasch registered 7. Lizbeth Inzunza totaled 10 digs while Leigh Jahnke managed 7. Katie Pilakowski dished out 52 set assists.

I feel West Point-Beemer played well enough to win Tuesday night, but Tekamah-Herman proved to be a little too tough in the end.

The Cadets (2-3) travel to Madison (1-4) to take on the Dragons Thursday night in a match that will be aired on 107.9 the Bull.

Madison is coming off a 3-0 loss at David City Tuesday night.

This is the type of match West Point-Beemer has to take care of business in, and should honestly sweep.

The Cadets have to come out ready to play and must be ready to go from the get go.

I know West Point-Beemer just played a five-set match on Tuesday, but the Cadets had the weekend off so they should be fresh and ready to go Thursday night.

Mitzel, Hinkel, Weddle, and Paasch need to have repeat performances hitting wise of the Tekamah-Herman match, and Pilakowski has to continue to set them up for success.

This is a very good and strong West Point-Beemer team, in my opinion, especially on the offensive end.

In addition, Weddle, Inzunza, and Jahnke have proven to be strong defensive players for the Cadets.

West Point-Beemer has the Stanton Tournament on Saturday so the Cadets could really use a sweep of Madison to give themselves a confidence boost and get prepared for that tournament.

This is a match West Point-Beemer absolutely has to have. It's a must win for the Cadets I would say.

I really think West Point-Beemer will sweep this match and have no troubles with the Dragons whatsoever.

This is a good match to fine tune everything and clean up any mistakes prior to Saturday's tournament.

The Cadets want to be on top of their game come Saturday without a doubt so West Point-Beemer needs to turn in a good performance Thursday night.

The Cadets have to be aggressive at the net, and hit well, in addition to blocking, passing, serving, and serve receiving well.

West Point-Beemer has to turn in a complete match performance, and put it all together.

I think the Cadets are a quality team, but I also think West Point-Beemer is a better team than what they have showed so far.

With that said, I thought the Cadets made strides and did some nice things against the Tigers, and I think they will only get stronger as the season goes along.

Thursday's match is scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m. on 107.9 the Bull.
