Oakland-Craig goes 1-4 at Northeast Nebraska Tournament
The Oakland-Craig Volleyball team went 1-4 at the Northeast Nebraska Tournament last week, losing 2-0 to Fremont Bergan and Lutheran High Northeast on Thursday, and 2-0 to BRLD and 2-1 to Pender on Saturday, before winning 2-1 over Allen on Saturday.
The Knights dropped set one to LHNE, 25-13, and lost set two 25-11.
Oakland-Craig lost 25-14 in the first set to Bergan, and fell 25-12 in set two.
The Wolverines topped the Knights 25-16 in set one, and 25-22 in set two.
Oakland-Craig lost the first set to Allen 25-21, but won the next two 25-15.
The Knights took set one from the Pendragons, 26-24, before dropping set two 25-16, and set three 25-22.
Slow start to the season for Oakland-Craig, but there's a lot of season left, and it's not how you start, it's how you finish.
The Knights (1-4) take on Scribner-Snyder on the road Thursday night.
The Trojans are led by Kaylee and Nicole Boyle, but are pretty young otherwise.
This should be a good match. The two teams split a pair of matches last year, and I look for Oakland-Craig to come out and play well.
This is the Knights' only match of the week so perhaps this could be a "feel good" win if Oakland-Craig is able to pick it up.
The Knights need something to build off of heading into next week's home triangular with BRLD and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.
Both those teams are good, and Oakland-Craig needs to gain some momentum heading into those matches.
I think the big things for the Knights are becoming more consistent and playing complete matches.
Oakland-Craig should of been able to sweep Allen and finish off Pender.
I have to give the Knights a break though as after all they are without their leader and best player in Dacey Nelson.
It's going to take some time for Oakland-Craig to adjust and get on track so the biggest thing is to be patient with this group of Knights.
With that said, I think Oakland-Craig has a chance to pick up a win on Thursday if they play up to their capability and potential.
The Trojans figure to be a tough team, but there's no reason to think the Knights can't win.
Oakland-Craig is the bigger school, and quite honestly should win.
I think anything but a win would be disappointing for the Knights. Oakland-Craig really needs another win to give themselves a confidence and momentum boost, in my opinion.
There's no reason why the Knights should be looking ahead to anyone else so Oakland-Craig should be ready and raring to go Thursday night.
