Clarkson/Leigh tops Scribner-Snyder and wins own Triangular
The Clarkson/Leigh Volleyball Team stayed hot following last Tuesday's BRLD match, downing Scribner-Snyder 3-0 on the road Tuesday night before downing High Plains 2-0 and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 2-1 at their own Triangular Thursday night.
The Patriots took set one from the Trojans 25-16, set two 25-18, and set three 25-17.
Hannah Kasik registered 9 kills and 10 digs while Paige Moore and Ashlynn Novotny had 8 and 7 kills, respectively. Halee Steffensmeier chipped in 18 digs while Kaegan Held notched 11 digs and 31 set assists. Beth Wiese added 8 digs.
Clarkson/Leigh topped the Storm 25-9 in the first set, and 25-22 in the second set.
Steffensmeier registered 9 digs while Kasik had 7. Held dished out 14 set assists.
The Patriots downed the Bulldogs 25-20 in set one before dropping set two 25-16. Clarkson/Leigh won set three 25-20.
Kasik posted 12 kills and 12 digs while Sydney Folken totaled 10 kills. Steffensmeier contributed 20 digs while Sara McEvoy recorded 14. Holly Kuhr chipped in 13. Held dished out 36 set assists.
The Patriots are playing great Volleyball right now. There's not much else to say.
Clarkson/Leigh (5-1) takes part in the Stanton Tournament on Saturday.
Teams like Stanton and West Point-Beemer are in this tournament, and figure to be tough to beat should the Patriots face either of them.
This tournament is definitely a step up in competition for Clarkson/Leigh, and I feel it will be a good test for the Patriots.
Clarkson/Leigh has already proven they are a really good team, but we will find out just how good in this tournament.
Kasik, Moore, Novotny, Folken, Steffensmeier, and Held, among others, need to continue to step up and play well for the Patriots.
Clarkson/Leigh is stacked and loaded with talent, and I look for the Patriots to keep winning and having success this season.
This is the Patriots' time, and Clarkson/Leigh has to continue to live up to expectations, and enjoy the ride and dream of being a successful Volleyball Team.
This Junior Class went through their growing pains as freshmen and sophomores, and now they are upperclassmen and having a good season.
I know it's early, but I really think this Patriot team is the real deal.
I wouldn't be surprised if Clarkson/Leigh dethroned GACC in Subdistricts. I feel the Patriots are that good.
That's a long ways off yet though, and for now Clarkson/Leigh has to focus on this Stanton Tournament on Saturday.
The Girls have to wake up excited and fresh, and ready to go.
The Patriots have to prepared mentally and physically to play good Volleyball.
Clarkson/Leigh just has to stay in the moment and not look ahead. Given the nature of this tournament I think it's absolutely critical for the Patriots to focus on one point, one set, and one match at a time, and worry about the task at hand.
