Howells-Dodge 3-1 in last four matches
The Howells-Dodge Volleyball team is 3-1 in their last four matches, defeating Elkhorn Valley 2-0 and Shelby Rising City 2-1, but losing 2-0 to Elgin Public/Pope John at the Howells-Dodge Tournament on Saturday before topping Wakefield 3-0 on the road Tuesday night.
The Jaguars lost 25-19 in set one, and 25-15 in set two to the Wolfpack.
Macey Kulhanek had 9 digs while Alyssa Coufal totaled 10 set assists.
The Huskies nabbed the first set 25-19 before Howells-Dodge won set two 25-8 and set three 25-23.
Taya VanLengen notched 16 digs while Kulhanek posted 8. Coufal and Lexie Brester dished out 10 and 7 set assists, respectively.
The Jaguars downed the Falcons 25-17 in sets one and two.
VanLengen finished with 8 digs while Kulhanek registered 7.
Howells-Dodge topped the Trojans 25-17 in the first set, 25-19 in the second set, and 25-14 in the third set.
Jessi Brester led the way with 13 kills and had 7 digs while Erin Prusa added 11 kills. Kulhanek managed 10 kills and 27 digs while VanLengen had 19 digs. Grace Kreikemeier chipped in 8 digs while Coufal totaled 7 digs and 21 set assists. Lexie Brester recorded 18 set assists.
The Jaguars played pretty respectable Volleyball over the weekend and on Tuesday I would say. Nothing wrong with a 3-1 record with the only loss coming to Elgin/Elgin Public Pope John.
Howells-Dodge (8-2) hosts Logan View (2-6) Thursday night.
The Raiders lost 3-1 at Pender Tuesday night.
The Jaguars should have no trouble beating Logan View whatsoever.
The Raiders are definitely an improved team, but based on how both teams have done so far this year the edge definitely goes to Howells-Dodge.
This Jaguar team is young, but mighty.
Different girls are stepping up all the time for Howells-Dodge as evident in their play Tuesday night.
The Jaguars need to keep getting those kinds of contributions from everyone to continue their success.
Howells-Dodge has to watch out for Shaylin Daugherty and others for Logan View.
Daugherty is capable of going off at anytime, and so the Jaguars have to be very wary of her, and know where she is on the court at all times.
Howells-Dodge has to play good fundamental Volleyball Thursday night, and have good court awareness.
The Jaguars must execute in all facets of the game, which includes hitting, passing, blocking, serving, and serve receiving.
Howells-Dodge has to be on top of their game, and must have the passion and desire and want to to sweep the Raiders.
These teams could very well see each other again on Saturday at the Logan View Invite so it's important for the Jaguars to not only win, but win in impressive fashion Thursday night.
I think a sweep would give Howells-Dodge a big boost of confidence as if they're not already confident enough heading into this match.
I just think a sweep would reaffirm how good of a team this Jaguar squad is, and would give them a mental edge should the two teams meet again on Saturday.
I think the Raiders would feel encouraged if they took a set or two so Howells-Dodge has to do everything they can to not allow that to happen.
The Jaguars have to remain hungry and determined to play good Volleyball. Howells-Dodge can't be complacent or let up.
