Wisner-Pilger goes 2-2 at East Husker Conference Tournament; sweeps Twin River

The Wisner-Pilger Volleyball Team went 2-2 at the East Husker Conference Tournament last week, beating Logan View and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family 2-0 at home Thursday night, before losing 2-0 to North Bend Central and Clarkson/Leigh at Logan View on Saturday. The Gators then turned around and beat Twin River 3-0 on the road Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger topped the Raiders 25-20 in set one, and 25-14 in set two.

Jordan Wegner totaled 13 kills while Lauren Jacobsen registered 20.

The Gators downed the Bulldogs 25-19 in set one, and 25-18 in set two.

Wegner posted 18 kills while Cassidy Dixon had 7 digs. Jacobsen recorded 19 set assists while Ariel Meyer notched 8.

Wisner-Pilger dropped set one to the Tigers, 25-16, and lost set two 25-15.

Karrin Jindra posted 18 digs while Wegner and Maci Batenhorst added 9 apiece. Ashton Meyer chipped in 7.

The Patriots defeated the Gators 25-23 in the first set, and 25-15 in the second set.

Wegner posted 8 kills and 16 digs while Jindra and Batenhorst registered 20 digs apiece. Jacobsen tallied 8 digs and 13 set assists.

Wisner-Pilger beat the Titans 25-16 in set one, 25-19 in set two, and 28-26 in set three.

Batenhorst notched 12 kills and 13 digs while Wegner compiled 10 kills and 9 digs. Ariel Meyer contributed 7 kills and 12 digs while Ashton Meyer and Dixon totaled 10 and 7 digs, respectively. Jacobsen added 19 set assists.

The Gators played real well Thursday and Tuesday, but ran into two great teams and didn't play as well on Saturday I would say.

Wisner-Pilger (20-8) takes part in the Scribner-Snyder Triangular against Scribner-Snyder (10-13) and Logan View (5-21) Thursday night.

The Trojans lost 2-0 to Tekamah-Herman and Fremont Bergan at the Bergan Triangular Tuesday night while the Raiders lost 2-0 to Oakland-Craig at the Conference Tournament on Saturday.

This is a Pink Out Event, and a big deal for all involved.

I think the Gators will take both matches and win the Triangular, but this night is about so much more than just the game of Volleyball.

It's the Fight Against Breast Cancer, and a big deal for all these teams participating in this Triangular.

Hopefully fans will fill the gym and support this great cause because I know a lot of hard work goes into putting on an event like this.

I think this event will only bring Logan View, Scribner-Snyder, and Wisner-Pilger closer together.

These teams are all competitors on the court sure, but I'm sure some if not all are friends off the court.

When I say friends I just mean friendly towards one another with everyone playing the sport of Volleyball.

This Triangular is about so much more than just the game of Volleyball, and I hope there will be a good turnout Thursday night.

The match will be aired on 107.9 the Bull, and it's great to listen to us if you can't make it to the matches, but you won't get the full experience by not attending I would say.

I encourage each and every one of you viewing this blog to go out and support this great cause if at all possible.

Go out and support the fight against Breast Cancer, and wear pink.

I know Scribner-Snyder is wearing pink uniforms Thursday night so it will be interesting to see if Logan View and Wisner-Pilger do as well.

The ultimate goal of any triangular is to win, but this triangular and this night isn't all about winning, in my opinion.

There's so much more to sports and the game of Volleyball than just winning, and I think this Triangular will prove and show just that.

It should be a great night for more than one reason.

Catch all the action on 107.9 the Bull beginning at 5:30.
