Howells-Dodge goes 1-2 at Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tournament

The Howells-Dodge Volleyball team went 1-2 at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tournament on Saturday, beating Clarkson/Leigh 2-1, but losing 2-0 to Twin River and the host Bulldogs.

Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family beat the Jaguars 25-15 in the first set, and 25-16 in the second set.

Macey Kulhanek notched 9 digs while Alyssa Coufal totaled 13 set assists.

The Titans downed Howells-Dodge 25-16 in set one, and 25-21 in set two.

Coufal notched 10 set assists.

The Patriots won set one 25-20, but the Jaguars took set two 25-9, and set three 25-17.

Erin Prusa led the way with 11 kills while Jessi Brester added 8. Taya VanLengen and Grace Dvorak chipped in 7 apiece while Kulhanek registered 13 digs. VanLengen and Grace Kreikemeier totaled 9 apiece. Coufal dished out 33 set assists.

Howells-Dodge did a nice job beating Clarkson/Leigh, but could of and should of done better in their other two matches, in my opinion.

The Jaguars (12-10) face Twin River (12-11) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament in North Bend Thursday evening.

The Titans went 2-1 at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tournament on Saturday.

I think Howells-Dodge can definitely win this time around.

The Jaguars have to be better than they were on Saturday though.

Howells-Dodge is better and can play better than they did, and I'm sure they know that.

The winner gets the daunting task of taking on North Bend Central, but the loser gets a bye and one less match so the Jaguars want this one bad I'm sure.

Howells-Dodge has to play like they did against Clarkson/Leigh. The Jaguars can be a pretty good team if they play like that on a consistent basis.

Something about the Patriots, probably being a rival, seemed to bring out the best in Howells-Dodge, and somehow, someway...the Jaguars have to find that strength and energy every time they take to the floor.

Howells-Dodge has two challenging matches following the Conference Tournament so now is the time to play well and step things up if you are the Jaguars.

Not much time is left for Howells-Dodge to get back on track and get things headed in the right direction again.

The Jaguars must play with a sense of urgency and purpose on Thursday.

Howells-Dodge has to play like their season is on the line because we're getting pretty close to the time where that's the case.

The Jaguars have to come out and play fired up, aggressive, and flat out angry on Thursday.

Howells-Dodge has to be motivated and upset given what happened against the Titans on Saturday, and has to want to right the ship.

The Jaguars have to execute in all facets of the game, and do the things necessary to win the match.

Howells-Dodge has to do everything humanly possible to come away with the victory.

First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. in North Bend.
