West Point-Beemer off to 2-1 start

The West Point-Beemer Volleyball Team split matches at the Battle Creek Triangular on Thursday, losing 2-0 to the host Bravettes, but beating Stanton 2-0. The Cadets then went on the road and beat Boone Central 3-0 Tuesday night.

Battle Creek won set one 25-22 and set two 25-17.

Brooklyn Weddle had 12 digs while Jadyn Meiergerd and Katie Rainforth totaled 8 and 7, respectively. GACC transfer Reece Snodgrass added 14 assists.

The Cadets downed the Mustangs 25-20 in set one and 25-13 in set two.

Sidney Swanson had 11 kills and 13 digs while Weddle registered 15 digs. Meiergerd chipped in 9 while Snodgrass posted 7 digs and 19 assists.

West Point-Beemer beat the Cardinals 25-15 in set one, 25-17 in set two, and 25-21 in set three.

Swanson had 13 kills and 12 digs while Rachel Groth totaled 8 kills. Meiergerd notched 7 kills and 9 digs while Weddle and Rainforth recorded 12 and 9 digs, respectively. Snodgrass compiled 10 digs and 28 set assists.

Great play from the Cadets overall I thought.

West Point-Beemer (2-1) battles Tekamah-Herman (0-1) and Wayne (1-0) at the Northeast Nebraska Classic at home Thursday night.

The Tigers lost 3-0 at BRLD in Thursday night's season opener while the Blue Devils swept Ponca 3-0 at home the same night.

The Cadets have a couple more matches under their belt so that should help them.

The only concern would be playing Wayne last, and maybe not being as fresh and in rhythm as the Blue Devils sitting a match compared to Wayne, who will have just played a match against the Tigers and it only being their 3rd match of the season as opposed to the 5th for the Cadets.

Lauren Pick would be one player West Point-Beemer needs to watch out for when they play Wayne.

Swanson and Snodgrass have to come up huge for the Cadets in that match in particular.

West Point-Beemer needs everyone to be on fire in order to knock off the Blue Devils though.

So I think the Cadets have a chance to win both matches, but I don't see them going any worse than 1-1.

Masks are required at this Triangular so fans should adjust and plan accordingly.
