Oakland-Craig wins season opener over Howells-Dodge

The Oakland-Craig Volleyball Team won 3-1 at home over Howells-Dodge Thursday night.

The Jaguars took set one from the Knights 25-23, but Oakland-Craig won sets two and three 25-20 and closed things out with a 25-23 set four victory.

Bailey Helzer had 21 kills while Ashten Rennerfeldt totaled 9 kills and 7 digs. Maycie Johnson added 7 kills and 7 digs while Josie Richards had 17 digs and 32 assists. Shea Johnson notched 16 digs while Laryn Johnson contributed 10.

All in all a great start to the season for the Knights.

Oakland-Craig (1-0) battles Wakefield (0-0) and Pender (1-0) at the Northeast Nebraska Classic in Pender Thursday night.

This will be the first action of the year for the Trojans while the Pendragons won 3-1 at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Tuesday night.

I think the Knights have a great chance to win both matches Thursday night and advance to the winner's bracket on Saturday.

Oakland-Craig is a well balanced team and has a lot of talent, and I look for the Knights to keep the ball rolling Thursday night.

Oakland-Craig's confidence has to be pretty high after beating the Jaguars the way they did.

The Knights appear as if they are the real deal and are going to be a tough out once again this year.

I don't know a whole lot about Wakefield, but I know Pender is loaded and has a lot back as well.

The Oakland-Craig/Pender match in particular should be very good, and I'm really excited to see how that match unfolds.

It should be another good night of Volleyball for the Knights to say the least.
