Oakland-Craig loses regular season finale at Wisner-Pilger
The Oakland-Craig Knights lost 3-1 at Wisner-Pilger on Tuesday to end the regular season.
Wisner-Pilger took set one 25-21. The Knights won set two 25-20 before the Gators took sets three and four 25-16 and 25-19.
Oakland-Craig hung in there early, but I think Wisner-Pilger wore the Knights down to eventually pull away.
Oakland-Craig (22-8) battles the Gators (25-6) again Monday evening in the C1-3 sub district tournament at Pender.
I think the Knights can definitely win, but Oakland-Craig has to play a much better second half of the match than they did against Wisner-Pilger the first time around.
The Knights have to execute at a very high level, and slow down the Gators' offense.
Volleyball, like most other sports, is a game of momentum, and Oakland-Craig has to keep the mojo on their side to come out on top.
I'm sure Wisner-Pilger has their sights set on a subdistrict final against Guardian Angels Central Catholic, but the Knights have to feel they are the ones who will take on the Bluejays on Tuesday.
This is the season for Oakland-Craig. The Knights have to come out and battle from start to finish. Oakland-Craig has to want it more than the Gators.
This is a very tough sub district, and the winner will no doubt have earned their way through, but if the Knights are the winner of this sub district they will have to feel ecstatic about winning it.
First things first though, Oakland-Craig has to focus on the match with Wisner-Pilger, but the Knights are definitely capable of winning this sub district, in my opinion.
The match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. It can be heard on 107.9 the Bull.
