Lyons-Decatur Northeast loses regular season finale to Tekamah-Herman
The Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars lost 3-0 at Tekamah-Herman on Tuesday to end the regular season.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast dropped set one 25-17, set two 25-20, and set three 25-19.
It wasn't an ideal way to end the regular season if you are the Cougars, but Lyons-Decatur Northeast took on a solid C-1 team, and so the loss is definitely understandable.
The Cougars (15-16) take on Fremont Bergan (14-16) on Monday in the D1-3 sub district at Oakland-Craig.
The two teams did not meet in the regular season.
The Knights lost 3-0 at home to Omaha Concordia on Tuesday.
I think Lyons-Decatur Northeast has a chance not only to win this match, but win the sub district.
The Cougars are playing close to home, and have already beaten the No. 1 seed, Cedar Bluffs, once this season.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast no doubt suffered a setback against the Tigers, but it's an entirely new season now.
Anything can happen in the postseason, and the Cougars have to gear up for a big postseason run, their last as the Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars.
Lyons-Decatur Northeast has to have a burning desire to extend their season a few more days, and reach a district final. That would be a good accomplishment for this team if they don't make the state tournament.
Monday's match is scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m.
