Guardian Angels Central Catholic heading to state

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays are the No. 1 seed in the State Tournament, which begins on Thursday in Lincoln, thanks to a 3-0 sweep of Hartington Cedar Catholic in the C2-2 District Final at Norfolk High on Thursday.

GACC won set one 25-17, set two 25-22, and set three 25-20.

Maddie Knobbe finished with 13 kills and 7 blocks while Breanne Kreikemeier totaled 10 kills and 11 digs. Morgan Bracht notched 7 kills 16 digs. Kate Knobbe added 24 digs while Katie Steuter recorded 20. Kali Stratman registered 7 digs and 15 set assists while Sara Wordekemper dished out 15 set assists.

The Bluejays played amazing Volleyball against the Trojans. GACC looked like a state championship team.

The Bluejays (29-2) take on Arcadia-Loup City (18-12) in the first round of state on Thursday.

Arcadia-Loup City downed Hemingford 3-2 in the C2-6 District Final at Ogallala on Thursday.

The Rebels certainly made a nice postseason run to get to the state tournament, but I don't think they're good enough to deny and beat GACC.

I look for the Bluejays to earn a sweep and put Arcadia-Loup City away early.

GACC would play the winner of Sutton and Hastings St. Cecilia in the semifinals on Friday.

I think the Bluejays have just as good a chance as anyone to win the state title.

GACC has been very good all season long, and I think the experience of making the state tournament last year should help this team in this year's state tournament.

The Bluejays have proven to be a very tough team this season, and I feel like GACC is playing their best volleyball of the season right now.

I look for the Bluejays to roll to victory on Thursday, and possibly win on Friday and Saturday. I definitely think GACC will play three games this weekend.

The Bluejays have to continue to play the way they have ever since the Mid State Conference Tournament loss to Hartington Cedar Catholic. If GACC does that they should be in good shape.

First serve is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln Southwest.
