Wisner-Pilger 3-3 in last six matches

The Wisner-Pilger Gators are 3-3 in their last six matches, beating Lutheran High Northeast 2-1, but losing 2-0 to Guardian Angels Central Catholic at their home triangular on Thursday. Wisner-Pilger lost 2-0 to St. Paul, but downed Allen 2-0 and Wynot 2-1 at their own invite on Saturday. The Gators lost 3-1 at Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night.

The Bluejays downed Wisner-Pilger 25-18 in set one, and 25-20 in set two.

Jayda Oligmueller had 8 kills while Maci Batenhorst totaled 9 digs.

Lutheran High Northeast won the first set 25-21 before the Gators bounced back to win both the second and third sets 25-18.

Oligmueller notched 13 kills while Jordan Wegner registered 12 kills and 10 digs. Batenhorst recorded 7 kills while Ashton Meyer posted 8 digs.

Wisner-Pilger defeated Allen 25-10 in set one, and 25-13 in set two.

The Blue Devils earned a 25-19 set one win before the Gators won set two 25-19, and set three 25-20.

Oligmueller finished with 12 kills and 10 digs while Batenhorst contributed 10 kills and 13 digs. Wegner added 9 kills and 7 digs.

The Wildcats downed Wisner-Pilger 25-15 in set one, and 25-16 in set two.

The Tigers won set one 25-20 and set two 26-24, lost set three 25-21, but rebounded to win set four 25-22.

Wisner-Pilger Head Coach Jean Groth says Tekamah-Herman simply outplayed her team.

“They played well, they played with extreme amount of energy. They earned points at a higher rate than we did. It appears that we had 36 errors in a four set match. To me that’s about 9 per set.”

The Gators, who fall to 12-10 on the year, were led by Oligmueller and Wegner, who notched 12 kills apiece. Maci Batenhorst totaled 8 kills and 9 ace serves for Wisner-Pilger, who plays Scribner-Snyder (6-13) in Stanton on Thursday.

The Trojans lost 2-0 to West Point-Beemer and Stanton at their home triangular on Tuesday.

The Gators should be able to pick up the win over Scribner-Snyder, but Wisner-Pilger has to play better than they did against Tekamah-Herman.

The Gators should be upset with that match and motivated to play better on Thursday.

I think you will see Wisner-Pilger play a good first match on Thursday.

If the Gators win they probably get Stanton, and I'm sure Wisner-Pilger would like another shot at the Mustangs.

We're getting to that time of year where anything can happen with crazy upsets occurring so the Gators have to feel like they have a chance to play the role of spoiler in this Conference Tournament.

Wisner-Pilger doesn't have the easiest road to the winners bracket on Saturday, but the Gators are capable of beating anyone they play, in my opinion.

Oligmueller, Wegner, and Batenhorst all need to have good matches for Wisner-Pilger.

It's getting down to crunch time for the Gators, and Wisner-Pilger needs to do their best to be on top of their game from here on out.

The Gators have some very favorable matchups coming up before the regular season ends so Wisner-Pilger needs to do well in this tournament to give them the attitude that there's no way the below .500 teams are going to beat them.

The Gators have to play with the attitude that they can't be beat. Every match is different, and a chance to impress and play well, and that's exactly what Wisner-Pilger has to do in this tournament.

Stanton is obviously a very good team, and Scribner-Snyder is no push over, but the Gators have to believe they can hang and compete with and beat both teams, should Wisner-Pilger advance and play the Mustangs.
