BRLD beats Logan View, loses to North Bend Central

The Bancroft-Rosalie-Lyons-Decatur Wolverines swept Logan View 3-0 in High School Volleyball on 107.9 the Bull Tuesday night.

The Wolverines took set one 25-15, set two 25-14. and set three 25-12.

Kelly Wakeley had 5 kills and 7 aces for BRLD.

Head Coach Rebecca James on the win. "We got all the players in, and they all got a chance to play, whether it be front row, back row. And it's good for the team to have to have different people in there, and be accountable for their position in the rotation. And so it was yeah a good night for us."

James says looking ahead....they have several freshmen who are showing a lot of potential. "I know that we lose a lot of seniors this year, and a lot of experience on the court, but we're going to have those young ladies in there soon, and they're going to be really aggressive and some good blockers and attackers for us coming up so that's something to look forward to, and they've been doing a great job in their C games and JV tournaments."

The Tigers downed the Wolverines 25-18 in set one, 25-13 in set two, and 25-12 in set three.

I thought BRLD might play North Bend Central a little bit tougher than they did, but the Tigers are an exceptional team.

The Wolverines (13-13) take on West Point-Beemer (10-11) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Thursday.

The Cadets lost 2-0 to Stanton, but beat Scribner-Snyder 2-0 at the Scribner-Snyder Triangular on Tuesday.

I think BRLD has a fairly good shot to knock off West Point-Beemer, but the Wolverines have to play at a higher level than they did against North Bend Central.

This is a toss up match if you ask me, and I do like BRLD to win, but things could really go either way.

Both teams have had pretty good seasons, but both are just lacking that consistent play to get over the hump.

I really think whichever team wins this match can possibly give Howells-Dodge a match, assuming the Jaguars beat Logan View.

I look for the Wolverines to step up their game and play well in this tournament.

I think BRLD will give teams their best shot, and perhaps pull off an upset or two.

The Wolverines have to get things rolling in this tournament with a couple of very winnable regular season matches left after this.

I think BRLD can go on a mini run to end the regular season, setting the stage for the postseason.

The Wolverines have kind of been lying in the weeds waiting to do something big, and I feel BRLD's time could be now.

We'll see if the Wolverines can take care of business against the Cadets and upset Howells-Dodge, should the Jaguars knock off Logan View.

BRLD's performance has to remain at a high level regardless of if the Wolverines' are close, far ahead, or far behind in any set or match.
