Emerson-Hubbard falls to Homer and Wakefield

The Emerson-Hubbard Pirates are 0-2 in their last two matches, losing 3-0 at Homer last Thursday night and 3-0 at home to Wakefield Tuesday night.

The Pirates dropped set one to the Knights 25-12, set two 25-18, and set three 25-11.

The Trojans downed Emerson-Hubbard 25-12 in the first set, 25-10 in the second set, and 25-19 in the third set.

The Pirates' struggles continue. It has definitely been a year of learning and growing pains for Emerson-Hubbard.

The Pirates (2-18) take part in the Hartington-Newcastle Invite on Saturday.

The host Wildcats are one team Emerson-Hubbard could face, and Hartington-Newcastle is a fairly decent team.

I think the Pirates will be challenged in this tournament, and won't have an easy go of things.

I think Emerson-Hubbard can be competitive, I just don't know how much winning they're going to do.

The biggest thing for the Pirates is continuing to get better. Emerson-Hubbard has to take steps in the right direction in this tournament, and try their best to pick up some set wins, or perhaps even take a match.

The Pirates have some tough matches coming up before the regular season ends. Emerson-Hubbard has the Winside Triangular with Hartington-Newcastle and Winside on Tuesday before the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament, which starts next weekend.

The Pirates have to use Saturday's tournament as a build up to next week.

Emerson-Hubbard has to do everything they can to play well on Saturday, and gain some confidence and momentum for their remaining regular season matches.

The Pirates have to give it their best shot on Saturday, and fight, scrap, and claw the best they can.

I don't expect things to come easy for Emerson-Hubbard, but nothing good comes without hard work and determination.

The Pirates have to right the ship and play at the highest level they can on Saturday. Whether or not that yields many wins remains to be seen, but the most important thing for Emerson-Hubbard at this point is growth and improvement in any fashion possible, in my opinion.

The Pirates desperately need something to go their way this weekend so we will see what happens.
