Logan View drops matches to BRLD and Fremont Bergan
The Logan View Raiders fell 3-0 at Bancroft-Rosalie-Lyons-Decatur last Tuesday night, and lost 2-0 to Fremont Bergan at the Oakland-Craig Triangular this past Tuesday.
The Wolverines took set one 25-15, set two 25-14. and set three 25-12.
Assistant Coach Brad Schlegel says his team was overmatched. "What we ran into, they had girls that could really play above us. Even when we were getting our blocks in the right spot, they were hitting above us, they were hitting around us, they were hitting all over. So we did some nice things as far as playing defense, but same as we've had all year, we just have trouble terminating when we need kills. We can get balls up, but then we can't put them down on the other side."
Schlegel adds his team has a ways to go. "The effort is there, we're just a little bit not quite getting there with the skills."
The Knights downed the Raiders 25-16 in set one, and 25-10 in set two.
Logan View just continues to really struggle. It has been a tough season so far for the Raiders.
Logan View battles Howells-Dodge (19-2) in the first round of the East Husker Conference Tournament on Thursday at Howells-Dodge.
The Jaguars swept the Raiders 3-0 at Logan View on September 15th.
Howells-Dodge went 2-1 at the Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family Tourney on Saturday, sweeping Clarkson/Leigh and Twin River 2-0, but losing 2-1 to the host Bulldogs.
This is going to be a really difficult match for the Raiders. Howells-Dodge is on a crash course to meet Stanton in the semifinals, and a matchup between those two on Saturday is a very real possibility.
Logan View just has to scrap, claw, and fight the best they can, and try and be competitive against the Jaguars like they were in the last set the first time around.
If the Raiders can just take a set from Howells-Dodge that might help them in their second match of the night against either BRLD or West Point-Beemer.
I don't expect Logan View to pull the upset, I don't think anyone does, but these girls have to believe in themselves and trust in one another that they can have success.
The Raiders need to gain some positive momentum from this match somehow, regardless of if they win or lose.
Logan View needs something to go their way for once, so like I said, perhaps the Raiders can take a set from the Jaguars and use it as positive momentum for the BRLD/West Point-Beemer match.
These girls have to rally around each other and stay positive. If they can do that then they may have a chance to be competitive against Howells-Dodge.
It's tough going into a match as a heavy underdog, but if anything, that has to motivate and fuel this team to be successful on Thursday.
Logan View has to find some motivation from within, and get amped, stoked, pumped, and fired up for this match.
The Raiders have to find a way to dig themselves out of this funk they're in. And the only people that can change Logan View's outcomes of matches is the team.
