Winnebago loses at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge

The Winnebago Indians lost 3-0 at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Thursday night, falling 25-13 in set one, 25-9 in set two, and 25-8 in set three.

Winnebago also lost 2-0 to Whiting, IA at their home Triangular last Tuesday, dropping the first set 25-18 and the second set 27-25.

I'm honestly surprised the Indians weren't more competitive against the Bears.

Winnebago (5-17) hosts Homer (10-12) and Wakefield (8-12) in a Triangular on Thursday.

The Knights beat Pender 3-2 at home Tuesday night while the Trojans downed Emerson-Hubbard 3-0 on the road, also on Tuesday.

I look for both teams to be tough for the Indians, but I think Winnebago can be more competitive than they were against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.

Winnebago seems to play well at home, and I look for the Indians to raise their level of play against both Homer and Wakefield.

I don't know if Winnebago will sweep the Triangular, but I think the Indians are at least capable of taking one of the matches.

Winnebago has to be more competitive against both teams than they were against the Bears if they hope to win though.

The Indians will have had an entire week to prepare for both teams so I think Winnebago has a chance to be successful for that reason.

The Indians have the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament starting next weekend so Winnebago no doubt wants to be on top of their game for that tournament.

The season is winding down, and the Indians have to find a way to not only win at home, but win at neutral sites and on the road as well.

Winnebago has to do their best to get on a roll and win at least some of their remaining matches.

The Indians want to be playing their best Volleyball heading into Sub Districts, and if Winnebago can get things going on Thursday they may be able to say they are playing their best come postseason time.

The Indians have to keep competing and battling hard in an effort to play good, consistent Volleyball.
