Emerson-Hubbard loses at Ponca

The Emerson-Hubbard Volleyball Team lost 3-0 at Ponca Tuesday night, falling 25-5 in set one, 25-6 in set two, and 25-4 in set three.

Stephanie Ferrusca had 13 digs while Cashlyn Kramer totaled 9. Hadley Houfek and Brynn Schock chipped in 8 and 7, respectively.

Tough loss all the way around for the Pirates. The Indians simply overwhelmed Emerson-Hubbard.

The Pirates (1-8) take on BRLD (6-10) and Winnebago (4-4) at the Winnebago Triangular Thursday night.

The Wolverines went 2-1 at the Tekamah-Herman Invite on Saturday, downing the host Tigers 2-0 and Fort Calhoun 2-0 while losing 2-0 to Omaha Roncalli.

The Indians won 3-1 at Omaha Nation Tuesday night.

I think Emerson-Hubbard has a shot to beat Winnebago, but beating BRLD will be a very tall task.

The Pirates are reeling right now, and with only 10 players on the team it will be tough going up against a deep and talented Wolverine squad.

Not that Emerson-Hubbard can't beat BRLD, because anything can happen, but the Wolverines are a C-2 school, play a tough schedule, and are in a tough conference in the East Husker.

The Indians are also C-2, but play more of the same schools that the Pirates do compared to BRLD.

Emerson-Hubbard has to play better than they did Tuesday night.

The Pirates got run out of the gym at Ponca, and Emerson-Hubbard has to be better than that.

The Pirates need to perform better offensively in particular. Scoring 6 and fewer points in a set is not going to get it done.

Emerson-Hubbard can definitely fix their miscues and get back on the right track though.

If the Pirates can at least get one of the two matches Thursday night I think that would be a good building block.

Emerson-Hubbard should shoot for winning both matches, but if they only get one I think they would be happy with that.

The Pirates have some tough matches coming up so Emerson-Hubbard has to snap out of this funk they are in and get back on track.

Ponca is very good, don't get me wrong, but the Pirates can play better than they did against the Indians, I have no doubts about that whatsoever.

It's about getting back up on that horse when you've been knocked down.

I know Emerson-Hubbard has it in them to play well Thursday night the Pirates just have to go out there and create their own breaks and make it happen.
