Clarkson/Leigh goes 1-1 at High Plains Community Triangular
The Clarkson/Leigh Volleyball Team went 1-1 at the High Plains Community Triangular Thursday night, sweeping the Storm 2-0, but losing 2-0 to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family.
The Bulldogs defeated the Patriots 25-14 in set one and 25-23 in set two.
Hannah Kasik had 8 kills and 7 digs while Halee Steffensmeier totaled 14 digs. Kaegan Held chipped in 8 digs and 13 set assists.
Clarkson/Leigh dominated High Plains Community in set one 25-10, and 25-8 in set two.
Ashlynn Novotny posted 9 kills while Held had 18 set assists.
I thought the Patriots played great against the Storm, and in set two against the Bulldogs.
Clarkson/Leigh (4-2) takes part in the Stanton Invite on Saturday.
The Patriots played West Point-Beemer, Arlington, and Hartington Cedar Catholic in the tournament last year.
This tournament figures to present its challenges and obstacles, but I think Clarkson/Leigh is ready to face some tough competition.
If the Patriots can play like they did in set two against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family they can compete with anyone.
Clarkson/Leigh can't afford to lose sets like they did set one to the Bulldogs though.
The Patriots have to be ready and on top of their game on Saturday.
Clarkson/Leigh can't take anyone lightly or for granted, and has to take the fight to each and every one of their opponents.
The Patriots have to fight, claw, and scrap their way to victory on Saturday.
These are the types of teams Clarkson/Leigh is going to see in Conference and in the postseason so the Patriots have to be ready.
I feel Clarkson/Leigh is capable of taking that next step and knocking off some big time powers, the Patriots just have to play their game and believe it can happen because it can.
Clarkson/Leigh has to go out there and make it happen. The Patriots are a great team, and I look for Clarkson/Leigh to go out there and show just how great on Saturday.
The Patriots can't back down from anyone, and can't be scared of or intimidated by anyone they play.
Clarkson/Leigh has to be ready to put forth a great and tremendous effort on Saturday, and play great Volleyball in every match.
Kasik, Held, Novotny, and Steffensmeier need to do their thing, and others have to step up and contribute as well.
The Patriots have to play together and as one, and unite with one another.
It shouldn't matter who Clarkson/Leigh plays as long as they have each other and each other's backs.
Everyone has to go to bat for everyone, and sacrifice their bodies for the betterment of the team.
Giving maximum effort and hustling after loose balls is going to be key, especially against some of these great teams, in my opinion.
