Overview:
A new Co-op has been born, and that is the new Co-op between Allen and Emerson-Hubbard known as the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack.
A number of players from both schools return to help make up this year's team.
Back from Wakefield-Allen for Head Coach Cheryl Greve is Carly Dickens (5'5, SR S), Alli Jackson (5'7, SR MH), and Jordyn Carr (5'7, JR OH), who are all All-Lewis and Clark Conference Players. Some players from Emerson-Hubbard include Brynn Shock (5'9, JR MH), Brianna Bousquet (5'6, SO OH), and Hex Ferrusca (5'0, SO DS). Other returners include Katie Utech (5'8, SO MH) and Jazmin Delatorre (5'7, JR M-R).
Rhyanne Mackling (5'7, FR RS) is a newcomer who could make an impact for the Wolfpack.
Coach Greve says this offseason was different in more than one way. "The offseason was different not only because of coronavirus, but also because of the new cooperation between Allen and Emerson. However, with coronavirus in the area, it was prudent at time in the summer to keep the two towns separated. The girls finally got to get together in July for a camp which was awesome. We spent a lot of time wiping things down, staying separated and washing hands."
It sounds like the two schools are both excited about this new co-op.
Hopefully the girls all work well together for the common goals of being successful and having fun.
I think Tri County Northeast has a chance to be successful this year and for years to come.
Emerson-Hubbard desperately needed this co-op and now they finally have it, which is good.
Hopefully the pandemic doesn't shut us and things down, and hopefully we get an entire season of Volleyball.
We can only hope for the best, and the players have to take things one match at a time and not get too ahead of themselves all while playing and performing like each and every match could be their last.
Season Outlook:
The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack look to perform at a high level in their first year as a team and program.
Coach Greve says her team is eager to compete. "The team could not be more excited about the chance to practice and compete this fall. We are doing what we can to make sure that we are careful so that hopefully everything continues and the athletes get a full season."
That's all you can hope for, and we certainly hope that happens.
Of course these girls had to miss spring sports for their respective schools and teams last year.
Greve says this season means everything to them. "This season means so much to the girls, they love to compete, and love volleyball."
A genuine love of the game is very important, especially in uncertain times like these.
I look for Tri County Northeast to work extremely hard this year and do everything in their power to win and be successful.
Not one player is more important than the other, and these girls have to work together and play for one another.
The girls have to care about each other, and must put any personal feelings or thoughts about a particular player if they have any aside and work for the common good of the team and program.
The girls have to work hard and push each other to be great.
Everyone has to understand their roles and be unselfish all while battling for playing time and pushing each other to improve and get better.
Tri County Northeast takes on Winnebago at home in their inaugural game to open up the season on September 1st, and I think that contest has a chance to be a win for the Wolfpack.
Here's to hoping we get through an entire season without any interruptions, disruptions, alterations, or a cancellation.
