North Bend Central looking for another successful year

2019 record: 21-8 (lost to Wahoo in Sub-Districts)

Overview:

The North Bend Central Volleyball Team looks to have another good season after going 21-8 last year.

Back for Head Coach Amy Sterup are Seniors Cierra Kluthe (5'10, OH) and Ally Pojar (5'10, MH) and Sophomore Kaitlyn Emanuel (5'11, MH).

Others that will contribute include Junior Madelyn Gaughan.

Coach Sterup says the team's offseason was slightly different than past years. "Our offseason wasn't too different. We didn't get to go to one camp because it was cancelled but we went to the other 2."

You can bet NBC's offseason consisted of a lot of weightlifting and open gyms and things of that nature whenever time allowed.

I'm sure there were lots of health precautions taken as well such as sanitizing balls and playing surfaces, socially distancing, temperature checks, and checking in on one another's well being.

The Tigers are a successful team and program year in and year out, and I don't see this season being any different as long as things are not shutdown or altered by the pandemic.

Season Outlook:

North Bend Central looks for another successful year on the Volleyball Court.

The schedule is tough, but the Tigers are a top team for sure.

Sterup says her squad is looking to improve throughout the course of the season. "We are looking forward to a season where we can grow as a team. We have a new team looking to become stronger as season progresses. We have a good set of Seniors who have taken to leading the team and working hard to bring the team together."

When asked about the NSAA's decision to move forward with Fall Sports, Sterup had this to say. "Athletes are very happy to be competing."

There's no doubt they are after missing last spring cause of the pandemic.

Sterup says the team is doing everything on their end to try and make sure we have a full season this year. "We are taking necessary precautions in hopes that we will get a full season."

Hopefully we will get a full season that won't be interrupted, altered, disrupted, affected, or cancelled by the pandemic.

So far so good, and it would be awesome if we could get through the entire fall sports season without anything happening.

All we can do about that is hope for the best and cross our fingers.

North Bend Central opens up the season on September 1st as they battle Shelby/Rising City and Madison at the Madison Triangular.
