Scribner-Snyder 4-0 in last four matches
The Scribner-Snyder Trojans have caught fire, downing Oakland-Craig 3-1 on the road Thursday night before winning the St. Edward Tournament on Saturday.
Scribner-Snyder defeated Harvard and St. Edward 2-0, and McCool Junction 2-1 at the St. Edward Tournament.
The Trojans took set one over the Knights, 26-24, and set two, 25-23, before Oakland-Craig won set three 25-18. Scribner-Snyder closed out the match with a 25-20 win in set four.
Savanah Miller had 19 kills, 9 blocks, and 19 digs while McKenzy Schreck totaled 10 kills, 16 blocks, and 16 digs. Kaylee Boyle notched 7 kills and 23 digs while Nicole Boyle registered 23 digs and 30 set assists. Daria Risch added 8 digs.
Head Coach Shelly Schulenberg. "I thought early on we didn't have a lot of errors. I think our nerves got a little bit to us that third set. We had some unforced errors. This fourth set we had some bad passing here at the end. I clearly would of liked to have won that game when they only had 15 or 16 points. But we just couldn't deliver a pass. And we kind of struggled with that last year. Not being able to finish our matches. And so we pulled it out, so that's a good incentive for us as the season progresses."
The Trojans downed the Cardinals 25-16 in set one and 25-12 in set two.
Nicole Boyle recorded 10 set assists.
Scribner-Snyder owned St. Edward 25-6 in the first set, and 25-12 in the second.
Nicole Boyle finished with 9 set assists.
The Mustangs owned the first set 25-20 before the Trojans bounced back to take set two 25-19, and set three 25-18.
Miller led the way with 14 kills while Schreck posted 10 blocks. Kaylee Boyle recorded 11 digs while Nicole Boyle notched 11 digs and 17 set assists.
Scribner-Snyder is playing some good volleyball right now. The Trojans are playing about as well as they could be at the moment.
Scribner-Snyder (4-2) has a big match at Clarkson/Leigh (2-1) Tuesday night.
The Patriots won 3-2 at BRLD last time out, and have had a solid campaign so far.
The Trojans are on a roll though, and could be in better game shape than Clarkson/Leigh.
I look for this match to go the distance, and be really competitive.
You have young talent against seasoned, experienced players.
The Patriots have a very talented sophomore class, but the Trojans have more experience.
Often times experienced teams find ways to win on the road, and that is something Scribner-Snyder has done once already this year.
I think Clarkson/Leigh will be just as tough, if not tougher than Oakland-Craig, so the Trojans need to bring the same type of effort they did at the beginning and end of the match with the Knights.
Scribner-Snyder has to keep battling and fighting no matter what. This match could very well go the distance so even if it appears the Trojans are down and out of it, they can't throw in the towel.
Scribner-Snyder is playing really good volleyball right now though, and I fully expect them to play well against the Patriots.
I think the Trojans have what it takes to get the job done on the road, but Clarkson/Leigh won't be an easy out, especially at home.
This match could definitely be one of momentum and runs.
The team with the more momentum throughout the match figures to be the team with the best shot to win.
