Overview:
The North Bend Central Tigers are aiming for another big season as they return a wealth of experience from last year's team that went 24-5.
North Bend brings back Kylee Hines—libero—5’2, Kinzie Lorence—Outside—5’5, Allison Lux—Middle—6’2, Alexandra Humlicek—Right/Outside—5’6, Jacki Minarick—Outside/Right Side—5’6, Hailey Bang—Outside/Middle—5’5, Brooke Frederickson—Outside—5’11, and Kristin Lux—Middle—6’1.
The Tigers appear to have plenty of height and speed, which should help them out tremendously against some of the tougher teams on their schedule.
North Bend Central had so much success last year, and I look for the Tigers to have a mighty fine season once again in 2015.
North Bend Central should be ready to go from the get go. There shouldn't be any doubt as to what the Tigers have to do to be successful again this season.
North Bend Central has to execute in every facet of the game, and make other teams' lives difficult.
The Tigers have to play tough volleyball when the ball is on their side of the net.
It's critical for North Bend Central to serve receive, hit, pass, and communicate well.
The Tigers have to play as one cohesive unit and work to get better everyday.
It should be a season to remember for North Bend Central. Whether that results in a trip to Lincoln remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure...the Tigers will give teams' their best shot and make every point count.
North Bend Central has to take things one match at a time and have tremendous focus during each match. Every set is so valuable, and the Tigers have to treat everything with the utmost importance.
North Bend Central knows what's expected of them, and I suspect the Tigers will step up and win quite a few matches this season.
This team is too experienced not to have a successful season. I don't think there's any doubt North Bend Central will be good this year.
Season Outlook:
There's no doubt North Bend Central is raring to go this season. Head Coach Amy Sterup says the girls have been preparing for this season for quite some time. "We are looking forward to a solid season. Girls have worked hard in the off season and have been waiting for this year since last year got over."
The Tigers lost to Columbus Lakeview in sub districts last year, and I'm sure North Bend Central has been anxious to get back on the court ever since their season ended a year ago.
Sterup says her squad needs to play under control. "We are working hard on playing at an even keel and not like we are on a rollercoaster."
The Tigers can't let big moments and big situations get the best of them. North Bend Central has to remain calm during those anxious moments, and come through in the clutch.
The Tigers had a difficult time with certain teams on their schedule a year ago, but performed well against other good teams.
North Bend Central was a little inconsistent last year so it's a matter of becoming more consistent this year to have more success.
The Tigers figure to see some good competition in the NEN Tournament, which is what they open up with.
North Bend Centralvalso figures to be challenged by Emerson-Hubbard, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, Wisner-Pilger, Oakland-Craig, West Point-Beemer, Howells-Dodge, and Stanton.
The schedule is fairly difficult for the Tigers, and they hope to be battle tested come sub districts.
North Bend Central has to come ready to play every match. No team can be taken for granted.
The Tigers have to give it their all every time out. North Bend Central has to build for the postseason.
If the Tigers want to be a factor in the postseason they have to develop good habits during the regular season.
Of course North Bend Central is no stranger to success in the regular season so I suspect the Tigers will have another solid regular season.
The biggest question is can North Bend come through in the postseason? Things won't be easy with Columbus Scotus and Columbus Lakeview in the same sub district, but we will see what happens come the postseason.
There's a lot to focus on and prepare for before sub districts, so the Tigers have to be ready to go from the get go.
Regardless of how North Bend Central fares in postseason play, it should be a fun and memorable year for these girls, their coaches and parents, and the fans.
