Guardian Angels Central Catholic hopeful for special season

Team: Guardian Angels Central Catholic

Mascot: Bluejays

Colors: Blue and White

Class: C-2

Head Coach: Kate Hagemann (2nd season)

2014 record: 30-6 (finished fourth at state)

Returning Starters: 5

Overview:

After making the state tournament a year ago and going 30-6 under then first year Head Coach Kate Hagemann, the Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays are looking for more success in 2015.

GACC returns five starters in Breanne Kreikemeier (5'8, SR MH), Katie Steuter (5'8, SR OH), Kate Knobbe (5'7 SR OH/RS), Morgan Bracht (5'8, SR OH), and Maddie Knobbe (6'1, SR MH).

The Bluejays must replace Jenny Knobbe (6'2 RS), Jamie Petz (5'7, S), Haley Guenther (5'4, L), and Krista Fischer (5'8, OH).

Looking to fill some of those spots and make a name for themselves are newcomers Sara Wordekemper (S), Sarah Arduser (L), and Kali Stratman (S).

It should be another very successful season for Guardian Angels Central Catholic. The Bluejays have a quite a bit of experience on this team, and know how to win.

GACC is determined to get the job done, and win matches. Those are some of their strengths.

The biggest question mark could be at the setter position. A good setter is so important to the success of a team, and the Bluejays have two setters to replace Petz, and I would imagine the job will get done between the two of them.

GACC should be a strong attacking team on offense with all the hitters they bring back. The Bluejays should be a tough team at the net and in the back row.

GACC has Maddie Knobbe at 6'1, otherwise the Bluejays aren't the tallest team. GACC isn't the smallest either though. They are right in the middle.

I look for GACC to have another fine season. The Bluejays were really good last year, and I look for GACC to have a similar season. The goal has to be win the state championship.

The Bluejays are a powerhouse, and there's no reason to think they can't contend for the title. Teams will be out to get GACC, but the Bluejays should be motivated and ready to play match in and match out.

GACC has to bring their "A" game night in and night out. That is how the Bluejays will win matches, and dominate.

Season Outlook:

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays are hoping for a memorable 2015 season.

Hagemann says GACC should be in for another good year. "We should have a solid season. Our team will be led by 7 seniors, several with a lot of varsity experience. We need to solidify our setter position and improve serve and pass consistency to be successful in the postseason. Our goal every time we step onto the floor is to play to our potential. If we are able to do that we are capable of beating any team that we play."

The Bluejays figure to be challenged by Crofton and Pierce, two teams they lost to a season ago.

There are some quality teams on GACC's schedule. The Bluejays won't have an easy ride this year by any means.

That means GACC has to be ready to play every match. The Bluejays can't take off sets or matches otherwise it could prove to be costly.

I look for GACC to fight hard every set of every match, and play their hearts out at all times. I think one thing you can say about this team is they will fight hard until the very end no matter what.

I don't expect there to be any quit at any time with this team. I suspect the Bluejays will play very hard until the final point of each set of each match, win or lose.

This team can develop good habits by playing hard if they haven't already. GACC has to find a way to maximize their potential, and get the most out of one another.

If the Bluejays can say at the end of the season they did everything in their power to win, and there wasn't anything they could have done better from an effort standpoint, then there shouldn't be anything to be disappointed about from the season.

I look for GACC to win quite a bit of the time this season. The Bluejays may take their lumps and lose a few matches, but it should be a successful season as a whole for GACC.

It will be interesting to see if the Bluejays can play their best volleyball at the end of the season.

GACC definitely needs to save their best for last, and has to find ways to stay fresh throughout the season.

The Bluejays also have to stay injury free if at all possible. Any sort of injury to any player will hurt this team.

Injuries are a part of the game, but if GACC can remain injury free and full strength at all times, they will be a very difficult team to beat.

The Bluejays reload instead of rebuild, and that should result in a very successful season for GACC. Don't be surprised if the Bluejays are back at the state tournament, and in the hunt for a state title come November.
