BRLD looking for big things under new coaches

Team: Bancroft-Rosalie-Lyons-Decatur

Mascot: Wolverines

Colors: Blue and Gold

Class: C-2

Head Coaches: Allie Tietz and Paige Raasch (1st season)

2018 record: 12-18 (lost to Wisner-Pilger in Sub-Districts)

Returning Starters: N/A

Overview:

BRLD has new Volleyball Coaches in Co-Head Coaches Allie Tietz and Paige Raasch. Tietz is a Bancroft Native and first time coach.

"I am from Bancroft. I played here actually 5 years ago so I'm right out of college. I teach preschool."

Tietz and Raasch take over for Rebecca James.

The Wolverines said goodbye to seniors Madison Polenske, Brandi Simonsen, Kariden Briggs, and Zoe Sjuts last year.

I feel that Tietz and Raasch have a lot coming back and a lot to work with, but the transition could come with struggles.

It could take some time for the girls to gel and mesh given the fact there's new coaches and everything.

With that said, BRLD has had all summer and offseason to work together so I fully expect the Wolverines to put a quality product on the floor this season.

Some other players that people should see on the floor this season include Audra Nolting, Brooklyn Nolting, Halle Wortman, Aubrey Berg, Kinlee Bacon, Kelsey Larsen, Tyra Bonneau, Caragan Tietz, Alexzi Nottlleman, and Tori Ostrand.

There's a lot of talent on this team, and I fully expect BRLD to go out there and compete well on a nightly basis.

The Wolverines need to hit, serve, pass, serve receive, and block well to be successful this year.

I feel Megan Beutler has a chance to have a phenomenal freshman campaign, and feel this team has a chance to do a lot of special things with a lot of juniors and seniors on the roster.

The next two years of BRLD Volleyball have a chance to be successful, in my opinion.

I think a lot of it is playing well and up to their potential.

It all comes down to how badly they want it and how hard they're willing to work.

The Wolverines have to step things up this year to get to where they want, there's no doubt about that.

BRLD has to get the most of themselves from an athletic standpoint, and reach, realize and maximize their full potential.

Season Outlook:

BRLD opens up the season at Tekamah-Herman on Thursday. Tietz says the Tigers are low on numbers, but still figure to be tough.

"We're excited. A lot our practices revolve around defense. We hope to be good defenders against them, and give them everything we got. I don't know I know they only have 9 girls coming so I know that's tough for them, but I know they'll be competitive still."

Tietz says consistency is a goal for the team.

She adds the team is excited about 6'1 freshman Megan Beutler.

I think Beutler can be a real force at the net for the Wolverines this season.

I feel she is that one tall and big hitter/defender that BRLD has missed in the past.

The Wolverines always seem to be fast, scrappy, and athletic, but I can't really recall many girls they've had over 6'0 in recent years.

The only one that really comes close is Tess Nottleman.

BRLD has to give it their all each and every time they take to the floor.

The Wolverines have to stay positive at all times, and rally around one another when things are tough and not easy.

BRLD has to keep fighting and playing hard no matter what, and can't do into tough matches thinking or hoping they can win.

The Wolverines have to go into the season expecting to win each and every time they take to the floor.

It's a mentality thing, and a winning mentality is what BRLD must have.

Starting the season off the right way on Thursday at Tekamah-Herman is very important, in my opinion.

Reason being winning that first match can kind of set the tone for the season and get things headed in the right direction.

The Wolverines play some juggernauts early on so don't be surprised if BRLD starts slow, but picks things up and hits their stride at the end of September.

I feel the Wolverines will be a much better team in October than they are right now.
