West Point-Beemer sweeps Schuyler Triangular and Tekamah-Herman

 

The West Point-Beemer Volleyball Team swept Schuyler and Twin River 2-0 at the Schuyler Triangular Thursday night before winning 3-0 at Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night.

The Cadets won 25-7 and 25-16 over the Warriors.

Jadyn Meiergerd had 7 kills while Reece Snodgrass registered 17.

West Point-Beemer defeated the Titans 25-9 in both sets one and two.

Brooklyn Weddle compiled 7 digs while Snodgrass contributed 22 assists.

The Cadets downed the Tigers 25-15 in set one, 25-21 in set two, and 25-22 in set three.

Meiergerd and Rachel Groth each had 10 kills while Meiergerd also had 8 digs. Weddle added 16 digs while Snodgrass recorded 12 digs and 22 assists. Katie Rainforth notched 7 digs.

Superb and great Volleyball being played by the Cadets.

West Point-Beemer (9-3) plays host to Madison (1-7) Thursday night.

The Dragons lost 3-0 at home to Bloomfield Monday night.

The last three matches, including one that night that was supposed to be played against Elkhorn Valley as part of a Triangular, was postponed. Same with matches last Thursday.

So Madison is struggling and has only played 1 match in the last week plus so the Cadets have that going for them and on their side.

Not that West Point-Beemer needs that to beat the Dragons, but it's an added bonus for the Cadets for sure.

I look for West Point-Beemer to go out there and win big Thursday night.

The Cadets are having a dream season for sure, and you can't help but think that this team has a shot to make state.

A long ways to go yet, but West Point-Beemer has to keep achieving a lot and must keep dreaming big.

I've been really impressed with the Cadets' play so far this year, and I look for West Point-Beemer to continue their stellar play Thursday night against Madison. 

GACC wins at Boone Central; loses to Wayne

 

The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Volleyball Team swept Boone Central 3-0 on the road Thursday night before losing 3-0 at Wayne Tuesday night.

The Bluejays won 25-23, 25-16, and 25-12 over the Cardinals.

Sophia Hass had 12 kills and 13 digs for GACC while Greta Wooldrik totaled 10 kills. Taylor Timmerman added 7 while Kelsy Steffen had 16 digs. Megan Plagge added 12 digs and 29 assists while Erica Engelmeyer and Isabel Hass totaled 9 and 7 digs, respectively.

GACC fell 25-19 in all three sets to the Blue Devils.

Wooldrik led the way with 10 kills while Sophia Hass registered 9 kills and 19 digs. Timmerman added 9 kills of her own while Isabel Hass had 15 digs. Engelmeyer recorded 10 digs while Plagge posted 10 digs and 29 assists. Steffen chipped in 9 digs.

Good win and effort from the Bluejays against Boone Central, but a tough loss to Wayne.

GACC (5-5) hosts O'Neill (6-1) Thursday night.

O'Neill lost 3-0 at undefeated Lutheran High Northeast Tuesday night.

The Bluejays could definitely pull off the upset in this one if that's what you want to call it.

Sometimes a difficult loss has a carry over effect into the next game or match, and that's exactly what I think could happen in this one.

It's a long road trip for O'Neill too, and GACC is a tough place to play.

The Bluejays have to step up and go all out in this one.

GACC has to put together their best performance of the season, and try and find a way to come away with a win.

The Bluejays can definitely do it too they just have to believe.

GACC has to play hard, smart, and inspired.

The Bluejays have to take it to the Eagles the entire match, and make O'Neill earn their points and set wins if they get any. 

Clarkson/Leigh sweeps Pender

 

The Clarkson/Leigh Volleyball Team continued their hot start to the season Thursday night, sweeping Pender 3-0 on the road in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Patriots won set one 25-18, took set two 25-14, and won set three 25-20.

The theme of the match was Clarkson/Leigh getting out to a lead in each set and responding to any and all Pendragon runs throughout the match as anytime Pender would make things close, tie things up, or take the lead the Patriots had an answer.

"Yeah that's one thing we talked about in the locker room was that like the 3rd set we were up 7-2, and they came back and it was 9-9. And that's something that we've talked about is not letting teams come back. And props to Pender they made us struggle a little bit, we made some unforced errors that we just didn't do a good job of taking care of the ball at times. But yeah one thing our team does really well is hold composure. At any point in time we don't panic, and that's been the key to our success is that they're calm, cool, and collected the whole match. So that's huge for us." 

Pender's lone lead of the match came in the 2nd set when the Pendragons went up 11-10.

Cassidy Hoffman had 10 kills to pace the Patriots while Chloe Hanel chipped in 7 kills and 9 digs. Alissa Kasik had 22 digs while Kennedy Settje and Kayden Schumacher totaled 16 and 13, respectively. Makenna Held added 28 assists.

Schneider talks about her team's offensive weapons.

"Yeah we've got a lot of threats across the net. We've got some big hitters, strong hitters. Yeah Chloe coming in as a Freshman is huge for us. She does a nice job. She's got a quick arm swing, she elevates really well. And Cassidy Hoffman man she's a Senior and she's really stepped up into that leadership role...taking control, owning the net, like she wants it. And she wants to go out on a high note her Senior year and it shows. Same with Kayden Schumacher...I describe her as feisty...she's quick on the arm strong also, and she just gets up, and for her height she jumps really well."

Clarkson/Leigh returns (5-0) to action Thursday night, battling High Plains Community (6-3) and Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (2-5) at their home Triangular.

The Storm beat Palmer 2-0 and Riverside 2-0 at the Palmer Triangular Tuesday night while the Bulldogs fell 3-2 at home to Oakland-Craig Tuesday night.

I think the Patriots have a great chance to win both of these matches, but both will be challenging for sure.

The Bulldogs pushed Oakland-Craig to the brink and figure to be tough, and High Plains is tough too, but this Clarkson/Leigh team doesn't get rattled.

I'm very impressed with the Patriots' ability to let things go and move on to the next play.

Clarkson/Leigh is a resilient and very tough minded team.

The Patriots have to continue to be and play that way come Thursday night.

Clarkson/Leigh has to keep the ball rolling Thursday night, and play well.

Pender swept by Clarkson/Leigh

 

The Pender Volleyball Team was swept 3-0 by Clarkson/Leigh at home Thursday night in action aired on 107.9 the Bull.

The Patriots won set one 25-18, took set two 25-14, and won set three 25-20. 

Pender's lone lead of the match came in the 2nd set when the Pendragons went up 11-10.

The Pendragons were led by Ashley Ostrand, who had a match-high 11 kills. 

Pender is back in action on Thursday as the Pendragons (3-6) travel to Wakefield to take on the Trojans (3-11).

Wakefield lost 3-0 at Howells-Dodge Tuesday night.

The Trojans beat Pender 2-0 at the Northeast Nebraska Classic in Pender on Thursday, September 3rd.

I feel like the Pendragons can get payback this time around, but the match being on the road in Wakefield doesn't make things easy by any means.

Pender has to come out ready to rock and roll Thursday night.

The Pendragons have to play with a lot of fire, energy, spunk, tenacity, grit, toughness, passion, and pride.

Pender has to to play hard the entire time, and go out there and give it their all come Thursday night.

The Pendragons have to execute in all facets of the game and play good Volleyball.

Wisner-Pilger swept at Oakland-Craig

 

The Wisner-Pilger Volleyball Team was swept 3-0 at Oakland-Craig Thursday night.

The Knights won set one 25-21, set two 25-18, and set three 25-22.

Adi Meyer and Cameryn Bellar each had 9 kills to lead the Gators.

Good solid, strong effort from Wisner-Pilger, but it simply wasn't meant to be on this night.

The Gators (3-5) entertain North Bend Central (8-4) at home Thursday night.

The Tigers swept Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and Stanton 2-0 at the Stanton Triangular Tuesday night.

Wisner-Pilger has to come out and play a great match Thursday night, and play in Coach Groth's memory.

The Gators have to come out swinging and fighting, and must be amped, jacked, psyched, and fired up for this one.

Wisner-Pilger has to come out and put forth a great effort Thursday night, and play superb Volleyball.

I feel like the Gators have been competitive so far this season, but something is missing this year.

Wisner-Pilger has struggled, but there's a lot of season left.

The Gators have to rally around one another and play great Volleyball Thursday night.

Wisner-Pilger has to have unity and be United as one.

The Gators have to come out with some spunk and attitude Thursday night, and play like they mean it.

Stanton 1-4 in last five matches

 

The Stanton Volleyball Team went 1-2 at the Boone Central Invite on Saturday, falling 2-1 to Crofton and Boone Central before beating Central City 2-0. The Mustangs then lost 2-0 to North Bend Central and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at the Stanton Triangular Tuesday night.

The Warriors won set one 25-14, and took set three 25-20 after losing set two 27-25.

Arynn Spence had 7 kills while Ellie Locke totaled 16 digs. Sylvia Cunningham added 9 digs while Kinley Pohlman notched 7. Bridgett Jensen added 11 assists while Olivia Cunningham registered 9.

The Mustangs beat the Bison 25-10 in set one and 25-11 in set two.

Sylvia and Olivia Cunningham each had 9 kills while Jensen posted 11 assists.

Stanton beat the Cardinals 25-20 in set one before losing set two 25-23 and set three 28-26.

The Mustangs lost set one to the Raiders 25-19, and fell 25-23 in set two.

The Boone Central Invite Stanton was supposed to play in against Norfolk Catholic and Boone Central Thursday night has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues.

North Bend Central 3-1 in last four matches

 

The North Bend Central Volleyball Team beat David City Aquinas 2-1, but lost 2-0 to Wayne at their home Triangular on Saturday before defeating Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and Stanton 2-0 at the Stanton Triangular Tuesday night.

The Blue Devils won set one 25-19 and set two 25-10.

The Monarchs took set one 25-23 before the Tigers won set two 25-12 and set three 26-24.

NBC won set one over the Raiders 25-15, and took set two 28-26.

The Tigers played well in their 3 wins it appears.

North Bend Central (8-4) battles Wisner-Pilger (3-5) on the road Thursday night.

The Gators fell 3-0 at Oakland-Craig this past Thursday night.

Wisner-Pilger has struggled so far this year, but the Gators always play tough.

The Tigers have to be ready to play a good match, a lot like they did on Tuesday.

North Bend Central has to go into Wisner and take care of business come Thursday night.

I fully expect the Tigers to do just that too.

North Bend Central is a good, quality team year in and year out, much like the Gators.

It figures to be an emotional night for both teams with the loss of former Wisner-Pilger Head Coach Jean Groth and everything.

You can bet the Gators will be playing in her memory so the Tigers have to be ready.

North Bend Central has to go out there and have fun and execute as well.
